HP’s iPAQ 900 series smartphones haven’t exactly had the
smoothest of releases (’round these parts at least) since they were first
announced way back in September of last year, but one of ‘em has at least managed to recently trickle out into the hands of the lucky folks at the FCC, which could possibly indicate that it’s actually nearing a US release. In case you missed it, the Windows Mobile-based phone was previously
hinted as coming to AT&T in its iPAQ 910 incarnation, although the FCC unsurprisingly doesn’t have anything to say about that possibility. Whoops! Apple’s gone and leaked its brand new aluminum MacBook and redesigned MacBook Pros to the interblogs. Yeah, it seems old Jobsy has really loosened the binds over in Cupertino — he doesn’t care what gets out these days. No, but seriously, some cats on the internet supposedly discovered a .Mac page which appears to display mockups (or actual product renderings) for a new line of laptops, as well as adverts for iTunes 8 and iPhones in the 32GB variety (for Australia, naturally). Of course, this is wild, crazy, unfounded speculation, and likely has no basis in reality at all. Then again, you never know… stranger things have happened. Steve, we await your takedown requests. Update: Looks like MacRumors got duped by its own forum members — these are fan-made mockups. Oh well, at least we can dream.

Okay, so we know of at least two HTC devices codenamed “Neon” that the friendly bureaucrats up in the FCC have been forced to go through with a fine-tooth comb. Now we have a third — the descriptively-named NEON300 — and this might be the money version. As we’ve pointed out before, the Neon series appears to represent a line of Touches with different guts for different carriers and locales, and the NEON300 possesses something that’s music to the ears of the yanks in the audience: HSDPA on the 850 and 1900MHz bands. Along with the recently-announced US Touch Dual, this should be quite a gem in, say, AT&T’s lineup — and with Sprint and Verizon both rocking the same device, can they really afford to turn the other cheek?
Update: Pictures of the unit being poked and prodded can be found deep within the test documentation, and sadly, it turns out this is nothing more than the US Touch Dual after all. But come on HTC, seriously, you know you want to make a straight-up Touch with North American HSDPA, too. Thanks, uofmrapper1!

Make no mistake, we’ve seen some fairly boneheaded moves made by technologically-illiterate bank robbers, but the latest case involves a fellow who was quite the opposite of that. Yes, the 20 to 25 year male who decided to hold up an Alabama bank the day before his taxes were due actually did the deed without hanging up his cellphone. And there’s surveillance footage to prove it. Quite honestly, we can’t imagine what the conversation here would’ve been like, but at least he made the most of whatever minutes he had remaining as a free man, right?

Surely those rumored shots of TAG Heuer’s luxurious first handset from last week are still stuck in your head, right? Go on and purge those puppies right on out, as we’ve got the very first press shots (more in the read link) of the now-official Meridiist to focus our attention on. Reportedly, the handset was indeed developed in partnership with Modelabs, and beyond the all-metal casing, you can also expect a sapphire crystal screen, 2-megapixel camera, multimedia player, 1.9-inch QVGA display, Bluetooth and a battery good for 7-hours of yappin’ aimlessly about how pricey your new mobile is. Speaking of which, did we mention this prized piece will run you between €3,400 ($5,420) and €3,900 ($6,216), depending on customizations, when it sashays onto the scene in Q2? Yeah, ouch.

Wouldn’t you know it? Just as promised, that strikingly white XV6900 has landed on Verizon Wireless’ website and can be snapped up now by those in need. The pain? $249.99 on contract after all applicable rebates — oh, and knowing the Touch Dual is heading Stateside later this quarter.
